Racial & Religious Harmony Circles Group Appointment Ceremony
In Racial & Religious Harmony month of July, Shinnyo-en Singapore hosted the Harmony Circles Group Appointment ceremony for five constituencies of Braddell Heights, Kembangan, MacPherson, Marine Parade, Mountbatten held with Lantern Floating on 18 July 2026 (Saturday) from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.The event was graced by Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Seah Kian Peng, Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Social and Family Development, Mr. Goh Pei Ming, Grassroots Adviser to Mountbatten, Ms. Gho Sze Kee with 80 members from the Harmony Circles receiving the appointment in person. The attendees were treated to a performance combining art and music by artists from diverse ethnicities, faith traditions, cultural backgrounds. Following the ceremony, the Harmony Circles members were invited to a lantern floating at Shinnyo-en Singapore’s outdoor compound. Messages of harmony, peace, wishes were written on the lanterns and floated. A networking session after lantern floating provided an opportunity for building friendship, networking and bonding over food and drinks. Members, guests and members of public from the neighbourhood of Shinnyo-en Singapore participated in the lantern floating from 4pm to 8 pm and a total of 450 lanterns were floated. Mr Seah, the Speaker of Parliament shared his thoughts on lantern floating:“It is a very meaningful experience putting out your wishes and prayers and what you hope to see. I think it is a powerful statement when you have a vision. Putting in writing…is a step towards making a dream to reality… putting on these nice floating lanterns is very meaningful and impactful”– Mr. Seah Kian Peng
