The lanterns are set afloat as the waters of Hawaii glow golden in the sunset. As the waves create gentle ripples, they remind us of how the light of harmony extends through out the world. Each year on Memorial Day, Shinnyo-en holds a lantern floating ceremony at Ala Moana Beach in Hawaii. This year marks the 19th time since the first ceremony was held in 1999. Since then, the lantern floating has become an annual tradition in Hawaii. The people of Honolulu and the Shinnyo-en community unite to prepare for this very unique and touching ceremony.
